"Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it."
-Rumi
Hello, my name is Katie, and I'm the voice behind Freebird Meditations. My path to this work emerged from navigating my own inner and outer turbulence, a mind that rarely found stillness, a body that carried the weight of unprocessed experiences, and a spirit that cycled through seeking, disillusionment, and renewed searching. Through years of chasing answers that left me empty-handed, I eventually found myself yearning for a connection to something deeper. These personal challenges shaped much of my early life journey and ultimately led me toward the practices I now share.

But for years, I felt lost in a maze of my own making. I tried countless approaches to seeking relief: self-help books, therapy, medications and substances, esoteric studies, various spiritual teachers, all things woo-woo, medicinal plants, workshops, and retreats. Each offered temporary glimpses of possibility, but I was constantly looking outside myself for answers, finding moments of reprieve but never lasting peace. I was trying to "transcend" my struggles when what I really needed was to turn inward, to meet myself with compassion, and to discover that the quiet center I sought had been within me all along.
Along my path, I naturally found myself drawn to becoming a therapist. This part of my journey taught me valuable ways to support others while deepening my understanding of how our minds and emotions work. I spent many hours learning about trauma, healing processes, and how our brains respond to different experiences, not as an expert with all the answers but as a fellow traveler seeking to understand these shared human challenges. However, while I was fully present and effective in my professional role, I recognized there was still a gap between my clinical knowledge and my personal experience. I could support and guide others toward healing while still searching for deeper peace myself, but I needed something tangible as well.
The true turning point came when I committed to meditation and mindfulness practices for myself after a big loss and life transition. I came to realize there was no way out but through. Bit by bit, I started to grasp the sense of what I had been looking for all along, an ability to be more present, less emotionally reactive, more confident and secure as I navigated this life. And less dependent on external factors. At first, sitting with my own experiences was terrifying and painful, but with persistence, something began to shift. I discovered how to hold sacred space for myself when life felt overwhelming.

Nothing happened overnight. This was a journey of small awakenings, setbacks, recommitments, and gradual transformation. There were days when sitting in meditation or practicing anything "mindful" felt impossible, especially when the old patterns pulled strongly or when I questioned whether anything was really changing. But over time, months, and years of practice, the cumulative effect became undeniable. These practices transformed my life so profoundly that I devoted myself to deepening my understanding of them, not just for my own benefit but to better serve others walking similar paths.

What meditation and mindfulness offered me wasn't an escape from reality but a way to meet it more fully. Through these practices, I discovered that presence isn't something to achieve, it's our natural state when we remove the barriers we've built against it. It took me so long to learn this seemingly simple truth, but I suppose that was just part of my journey, the time it took for this wisdom to move from intellectual understanding to lived and felt experience. But this revelation fundamentally changed how I approach both my own healing and how I work with others. And when you finally get this, you want to share it, especially in a world that needs it so greatly.
This is why Freebird Meditations exists today.
I created this space because I believe that transformation happens not through adopting someone else's technique but through rediscovering our own innate wisdom. The guided meditations and mindfulness practices I share are designed to help you find your own way back to yourself, to remember what your busy mind or tender soul may have forgotten.

I don’t offer these practices as quick fixes, because real transformation isn’t about shortcuts. In a world saturated with instant solutions, what if the true power lies in something deeper? These practices are invitations, tools to help you shift how you relate to yourself, your experience, and the world around you, one breath at a time.

Think of them as the materials for building something strong and lasting. Sometimes, it's about repairing the cracks in your foundation; other times, it’s about rebuilding entirely from the ground up. This work takes time, patience, and steady attention, but what emerges is yours: a presence that is unshakable, a sovereignty that no external force can take away.

I don’t claim to have all the answers, nor do I position myself as a guru or influencer with a secret formula for life. The world has enough of those. Instead, I offer a space for you to uncover your truth, reconnect with your inner wisdom, and step fully into your own sovereignty. The peace we seek isn’t something to chase, it’s already within us, like a seed holding the potential of a mighty tree. With the right attention and conditions, it naturally unfolds.

This journey of coming home to yourself may be the most profound teaching of all. What if true freedom isn't found in escaping your experience but in being fully present with it?
Like a bird discovering its wings, could liberation emerge as we intentionally cultivate our capacity for awareness and presence? The path asks something of us, learning to be with ourselves fully, to navigate our inner landscape with skill and compassion. Though it requires dedication, might this practice reveal the deep peace and natural freedom many of us have been seeking all along?

Thank you for being here. I'm humbled and honored to fly alongside you in this grand adventure called life.

In Peace Profound,
Katie, Freebird Meditations
